A Daily Challenge, or a Game with Friends

A Daily Challenge, or a Game with Friends
Screens from the Geo Adventures development build.

A game of Geo Adventures can be a few quiet guesses on your own. It can also be a reason to compare answers with someone else.

Alongside Classic mode, I am preparing Daily challenges and Multiplayer for the iPhone and iPad app. Here is a preview of how they work in the current build. The App Store launch is still being prepared.

One challenge for the day

Daily gives everyone the same set of locations for that day's challenge. You can play it once and see where your score sits on the daily leaderboard.

The countdown on the Daily card shows how long is left until the next challenge. Once you have played, you can come back to your result and the leaderboard rather than replaying the same challenge for a higher score.

This makes comparing results a bit more interesting: you and your friends had the same places to work out.

Create or join a match

Multiplayer lets you create a match or join one. You can choose a worldwide game or a country to focus on, then invite friends into the same match.

Everyone is guessing the same locations. The fun is seeing how differently you read the clues, even when you were looking at the same street.

The shared challenges and matches need a connection. They are separate from any locations already bundled with the app; having those locations on your device does not make the online modes work offline.

Keep a streak going

There is also a Streaks mode for keeping a run going with close guesses. A wide miss ends the run, so each new location gives you a reason to look a little more carefully.

A streak run is separate from the daily play streak on the Home screen. One is about your guesses within a game; the other is about coming back to play on consecutive days.

Tell me what you would play

I am still preparing the release, and I would welcome feedback on these modes. If you would rather play a short daily puzzle, a match with friends or a longer solo game, please let me know.

Thank you for reading ❤️
