Privacy Policy
Short version: Geo Guesser is a game, not a data business. We collect the minimum needed to keep the game working and improving, we do not sell your data, and we do not show ads.
Who we are
Geo Guesser is an iOS game made by Manuel Escrig. This policy covers both the app and this website (geoguesserapp.com). If anything here is unclear, ask us through the contact form.
Accounts (optional)
You can play as a guest with no account at all: your profile and scores then live only on your device, fully offline, and nothing about you is stored on our server. If you choose to sign in (with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In), we create an account on our server and store:
- Your provider user id. An opaque identifier from Apple or Google that lets you sign back in. It is not your Apple ID or Google password; we never see those.
- Your email address, if you share it. Apple lets you hide it, and that is fine with us.
- Your nickname and avatar choice. Whatever you pick in the app.
- Your best scores per difficulty. So your records survive reinstalls and can appear on leaderboards.
Nicknames, avatars, and best scores may appear in public leaderboards visible to other players. Your email and provider id never do.
You can delete your account and all of this data at any time in the app (Profile > Delete account) or by asking us through the contact form. Deletion removes your profile, scores, and sign-in tokens from our server. Sign-in tokens also expire on their own after 180 days of inactivity.
What the app collects
Beyond the optional account above, the app does not ask for your name, location, contacts, or photos. The data that does move around:
- Crash reports and basic analytics (Bugsnag). If the game crashes or misbehaves, a technical report is sent to Bugsnag so we can fix it. This includes things like your device model, iOS version, app version, and what the app was doing at the time. It is diagnostic data, not a profile of you. See Bugsnag's privacy policy.
- Game Center. If you are signed in to Game Center, your scores are submitted to Apple's leaderboards under your Game Center nickname. Apple handles that data under Apple's privacy policy. If you are not signed in, nothing is submitted.
- Street View imagery (Google). Panoramas are loaded from Google's servers. When the app requests imagery, Google receives the technical details of that request (such as your IP address), the same as when any app or browser loads content from Google. See Google's privacy policy.
- Purchases (App Store and RevenueCat). The game is currently free while in its launch period. If paid content is added, purchases are processed by Apple, and RevenueCat helps us validate them. Neither we nor RevenueCat ever see your payment card details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What this website collects
- Contact form. If you write to us, we store the name, email address, and message you submit, plus your IP address (used only to limit spam). We use this to reply to you and for nothing else.
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and debugging. They are rotated and deleted automatically.
This website does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not show ads or work with ad networks.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not ask for your device location. The only "location" in Geo Guesser is the one you are guessing.
How long we keep data
Account data (provider id, email if shared, nickname, avatar, best scores) is kept until you delete your account, in the app or via the contact form. Sign-in tokens expire after 180 days of inactivity and are removed. Crash reports are kept by Bugsnag for a limited period and then expire. Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request, then periodically cleaned up. Game Center data lives in your Apple account and is managed there.
Your choices
- You can play without an account; signing in is entirely optional.
- You can delete your account and all server data in the app under Profile > Delete account, or by asking us through the contact form.
- You can play without Game Center; simply do not sign in.
- You can ask us to delete any message you sent through the contact form.
- You can manage Game Center data in your device settings under your Apple ID.
Children
The game is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. There are no chat features and no ads, and accounts are optional. If you believe a child created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Meaningful changes (for example, if paid content launches) will be called out clearly.
